Books I gonna read
09.30.04 (6:37 pm)   [edit]
Some picks from my TBR pile which I would like to move sooner:

Orhan Pamuk-"Snow"
"NY Trilogy" by Paul Auster
"Zelda`s Cut" by Philippa Gregory
"Invention of Solitude" by Auster

Struggling with "In America"
09.30.04 (5:59 pm)   [edit]
I`m still more into reading "Confessions of a reformed dieter",
than "In America"(Sontag).I looked at the comments of the others, and everybody
is so positive about the book, with excellent ratings.....but I cannot get into it.
I don`t understand the main character,Maryna. To me she seems superficial.
She is acting all the time, surrounded by men, fascinated by her play, her strangeness
and shine.
The narration seems to lack an integrity.First narrates an unknown woman who observes secretly Maryna and her friends, then a monologue, then narration again...
But I`m not going to give up..at least for now.

Received a good book today
09.27.04 (12:52 pm)   [edit]
Today I received from a bookcrosser in UK a good book:
"Confessions of a Dieter" by A.J.Rochester.It is about a overweight woman
who manages to shed 30 kilos participating in a weight-losing TV program.
So far it seems funny, entertaining and honest.
I promise to post some excerpts later!

First entry
09.25.04 (12:23 pm)   [edit]
This is my first entry here.I has been always tempted by keeping an online blog but
I never managed to do it.I`m not sure even about this one but it is worth giving a try.
I intend to keep here a track of my Bookcrossing books, experience, readings ,comments, reviews and etc.

To begin with,I have some bookring books with me now which unfortunately are moving very slowly. There are:

In America by Susan Sontag
The Little Friend by Donna Tart
Arcobaleno by Banana Yoshimoto

I almost gave up reading "The Little Friend".It is too big,and I feel everything is evolving around Robbin`s death and Harriet`s obsession to find his killer....and I don`t think my reading would become easier,so maybe it`s better to PM the next person in the list.

Meanwhile,I started reading "The Real Life of Sebastian Knight" by Nabokov.I was a bit surprised to discover similar moments to "Pale Fire"- the similar role of the narrator;it is about a writer,again...and etc....But the printing is far better than was with "Pale Fire( a very small font old edition),so probably I shall finish it this time.
